Introducing Planet Hunters

Planet Hunters is our first ever project and is something that has been in the works for a couple years. Development is now picking up speed and we are finally ready to reveal it! As the title suggests Planet Hunters is a game in which you will be hunting down and killing the planets themselves. The game is a Roguelike created in the 2D Side-scroller Metroidvania genre with a focus on combat and quick movement first and puzzles and everything else second. In terms of player movement and player power we seek to turn these ideals up to 11 to create a unique vision of the metroidvania genre which typically plays out more slowly and meticulous. The world generation in the game will be fully procedural and approached in a way completely unique to our game. We plan to fully reveal our world generation system at a later date as we are planning to fully support modding including ways to change and customize how the game will generate the maps you will be playing through.

          A full story reveal is also in the works to introduce you to the world of Planet Hunters however, we have prepared a small preview to introduce the story in this post. The game takes place in our own universe far in the future. Humanity has advanced enough to explore the stars beyond our own solar system and has established settlements in other places. Upon exploration a new type of planet was found beyond the usual ones we have seen like gas giants, rocky planets, etc… These planets have been found to make the entire solar system they are located in extremely dangerous places. They can vary from simply making the system inhabitable to showing some type of unknown intelligence. These would seek out prey in the form of life on other planets thereby making them a threat to those even located outside of their system. With the increased human presence spreading in the universe some of these planets have taken notice and are now seeking out human settlements to prey on. In response to this growing threat a new organization known as the planet hunters rose up. They are a group tasked with the research and pacification of these hostile planets with the ultimate goal of making the universe safe for all life.
